In week 11 the haves and the have-nots continued to separate themselves and the race is officially a 3-way one now, with BeaudoinBros in the lead over WaxOnWaxOff by 2.5 rank points and the Bastards 6 points out of first. There is a steep drop off from there with the next team being Old a distant 18.5 pts out of first.
Taking the week was Wax so they gained a big 2.5 pts on the lead. Stafford had a huge game against the Pats and Barkley (best RB in the league) continues to be a dominant force this year. Adding to Wax’s arsenal is a bit of a surprise, Drake Maye, who has stepped in as the Pats QB and is doing a good job there. He produced 15.5 points for Wax this week. Wax also got great production from his college player Carson Beck. Even though that guy looks like a crack addict he can still put up fantasy points! Wax’s only weak spots this week were at TE (Hockenson 3.5 pts) and kicker (Elliott 3.5). All other areas of Wax’s lineup showed good production even if not spectacular. Surprisingly Wax didn’t start the league’s highest ranked team D (Broncos) else he would have had even more points.
Decepticons came in 2nd and are in 5th place. RB was the position of the day as Joe Mixon (RB1 in the league) was the star of the show scoring 3 TDs and getting 30.75 points and Breece Hall also had a great game with 2 TDs and 43 receiving yards. Solid defense led by Jessie Bates added 34.75 points and solid quarterbacking also helped. Decept could be a threat for 4th place given that he has Tua and Jordan Love, a really nice 1-2 punch at QB. It could be tough decisions at this position for Decept but it’s a nice problem to have. This has got to be welcome news for them as both QBs have battled injury this year and neither are in the top 5 QBs. Trey Hendrickson (DL2) continues his good play on the defensive side of the ball.
There
was a two way tie for 3rd and 4th between BeaudoinBros and
Glorious Bastards. ** note: subsequent stat change, DL
Buckner (Beaud) awarded extra assist so Beaud finished 3rd and
Bas finished 4th **
BeaudoinBros had unbelievable WR production this week with Cooper Kupp and Tee Higgins both hauling in 24.25 pts each. These were by far the highest pts totals in the league with only Puka and Jamar even close. I’m a bit surprised Kupp is WR2 given his injuries earlier in the year, and Tee is WR5 so BB has formidable WR talent. Hurts was serviceable at QB with 15.5 and RB was again ok with Montgomery contributing 17.75. Low points were Kelce who apparently is under the spell of Taylor Swift who is surely depressed by the election results. This is not helping Kelce is my guess. Defensively the linebacker position contributed 26 points with Logan Wilson and Roquan Smith. Jayden Daniels continues to be a stud rookie (tied for rookie#1 in the league).
Glorious Bastards tied the Bros and Bo Nix at rookie was the star of the show, pulling in a whopping 35.25 points with 4 TDs and 0 INTs. The Broncos are a big surprise in the league in a large part due to Bo who is actually tied with Jayden Daniels for the top rookie spot. GB also had good production from his WR corps, with Jamarr (WR#1) getting 21.75 w/two TDs and George Pickens with 12.25. Defense was another highlight for GB, getting 45.5 pts from his IDPs. A lowlight for him was kicker Dustin Hopkins who had -2.5 pts missing two FGs including a total chip-shot 27 yarder. TE was also weak with Conklin only getting 2.75 this week.
And onto the 2nd tier teams!
Flying Elvis has more or less left the building almost from day one but was able to manage a 5th place finish this week. Thankfully Josh Allen has stayed upright and had a normal game for him, with 23 pts. He hasn’t had any crazy good games but he’s still top 5 in the league. JK Dobbins and Josh Jacobs contributed nicely with 16.75 and 16 respectively, and rookie Ladd McConkey is gaining traction in LAC with 6 catches this week for 13 pts. The biggest weaknesses for FE are at the WR spot where he is incredibly thin. Hopkins and Adams need to stay healthy as the only other option is Mims who is bad. Additionally, Daniel Jones has been benched now so on the bye week coming it will be Bryce Young at QB; OUCH!
Old #7 took 6th with a good week from Joe Burrow (QB2) having a good game with 3 TDs and 33 pts. Amon Ra-St. Brown of the juggernaut Lions also had a crazy good week with 30.75 pts on 2 TDs and 161 yds receiving. He’s WR#4. Rookie Brock Bower had an excellent game with a TD and 13 receptions for 126 yards. This was good for 26 points and helped save this team from a much lower finish. Bowers is having a very nice season for a rookie TE, he is rookie#4. Old also got McCaffrey back but his figures were milk-toast and Kamara was the same. TE and K were weak as they were for most teams this week and D was below par except for Quincy Williams who was ok.
Professor MJ was 7th this week, despite good production from Justin Herbert who is blossoming recently. The LAC team is starting to wake up and this is good news for MJ as his QB situation is dire. Fields is not playing and Dak is hurt. There wasn’t a lot else to see here as RB and WR was not so great. DeAndre Swift has been a disappointment at RB20 and his number this week weren’t great and Brian Robinson has been platooning with Ekeler, taking away snaps. MJ has 7 WRs but none are all that great with CeeDee suffering from the loss of Dak. He’s still WR8 but one would think things won’t get better for him with the current Cowboys situation. If MJ had started Danielle Hunter in place of Myles Garrett he would have gotten 14.5 instead of a goose egg, but that’s a hard call to make.
The Admirals came in 8th and one has to wonder if last year putting FE in charge of his draft has cursed him. The numbers are sad to look at. While Derek Carr had a decent game and Jahmyr Gibbs was not bad, it’s kind of hard to find a lot of bright spots here. Rookie Xavier Worthy did well with 13.25 and the Texans had a good defensive game with a TD and 18.5 pts. The problem for this team is many of the players are injured or not playing. Two WRs produced goose eggs, without even being injured, and the 3 active RBs other than Jahmyr this week produced a total of 7 points. Hard to win with that lack of production at the talent positions.
The Ballers unfortunately find themselves in an all-too-familiar position of last place this week. This marks the 5th week in last place and their 8th week in either 2nd to last or last. In week 9 there was a total outlier 3rd place finish and Ballers need to hope for something like that to start happening but it doesn’t look good. They made the incorrect decision to start Lamar (even though he is QB1) instead of Goff this week against a strong Pittsburgh D and it cost them a huge 26.75 pts. This move alone would have had them at 137 pts instead of 110 and they would have been in 6th instead of 9th. Not starting Puka was another miss and Kittle (TE1) being hurt makes things worse. On the bright side, Ertz was a high scoring TE this week and Luvu is looking like a nice LB. DB Reed Blankship had a good week as well.
