Week #2

After a wobbly week #1, ProfMJ exploded for 182 pts this week, even despite the Prescott-Lamb connection not clicking on all cylinders when the Cowboys got their ass kicked by the Saints.  Thankfully they had a long TD connection of 65 yards but the rest was quite poor including 2 INTs for Prescott and a fumble not lost.  It is James Cook who started the week on the right foot with 3 TDs in the first half of the Thursday game and finished with 26.75 pts.  Rookie M Harrison was benched because of his poor showing in week #1 and scored 25.5 pts on the bench but it did not matter much because M Nabers started and scored 21.25 pts which was the best starting rookie score of the week, outscoring all other starters by more than 10 pts.  Defense was generally good with double digit scores from the Jets, D Hunter, Al-Shaair, and Love, Mosley being the only laggard with 3 pts.

Similarly to Prof, Old bounced back from a poor week #1 with 173.75 pts and second place this week.  The difference between first and second was entirely due to the rookie position because Old started K Coleman who scored a goose egg and left Brock Bowers on the bench who scored 13.75 pts.  Kamara was the top scorer in the entire PQBFL with 39 pts thanks to 4 TDs and 180 yards from scrimmage.  He has helped forget about McCaffrey’s injury and might even stay in the starting lineup after CMC returns, ahead of Kyren Williams who was drafted to be RB2 but might end up RB3.  Williams scored a short TD but only rushed for 25 yards.  Old’s WRs also propelled Old near the top with 21.75 pts from Godwin and 17.75 pts from Amon-Ra who soothed concerns after week #1 that something was wrong with him when he only scored 4.5 pts.

The Admirals finished in the blue with 153 pts and after two weeks are in the thick of the race, only one rank-points behind first place which is a nice surprise considering Adm’s low pre-season projections.  Kyler Murray destroyed the Rams with 34.5 pts and ranks QB3 in the PQBFL after two weeks, even ahead of the consensus QB1 Josh Allen (FE – QB4).  The other big score for Adm was DL Hutchinson who sacked Mayfield 4.5 times and even forced a fumble and that was still not enough for the Lions to win but it provided a much needed 26 pts for Adm.  In Houston, Adm scored on both sides of the ball with 21.75 pts for Nico Collins and 16.5 pts for the Texans defense.  The main reason Adm was not near first and second place despite those big scores from Murray-Hutch-Collins-Texans is that there were too many glaring holes in Adm’s starting lineup.  RB R White only scored 1.75 pts.  The Bucs won that game so in what circumstances will White be expected to do well?  With AJ Brown injured Adm is very thin at the WR position and started Mike Williams who was limited to 1.75 pts.

FlyingElvis beat Wax by a small margin (2.5 pts) which means as a result FE is now part of the triple-tie in first place along with Wax and Prof.  FE performed well on the defensive side led by Maxx Crosby doing what he was drafted to do which means batter the opposing QB.  This week it’s L Jackson who was in his crosshairs and Crosby sacked L-Jax twice and also had 4 tackles for a loss for a total of 17.5 pts to help the Raiders pull off the upset in Baltimore.  DB Branch had an INT, TJ Watt a sack, and Wagner enough tackles and assists to reach double digits.  On offense it was more of a mixed bag for FE.  D Adams did his part along with Crosby to beat the Ravens thanks to a short TD with 4 minutes left.  Adams was FE’s highest scorer of the week with 19.5 pts.  Not far behind was DK Dobbins who feasted on the bottom of the barrel Panthers with 18.75 pts.  Not all weeks will have such juicy matchup, but this week was the right call to bench Josh Jacobs (9.5 pts).  FE started the correct rookie McConkey but he only scored 3.25 pts and backups were even worse.  TE Andrews outscored I Likely this week but still did not score much with only 6.5 pts so early returns on Andrews as 4th round pick have not been good.

WaxOnWaxOff finished in the middle with 144.5 pts mostly because of the scoring of WRs.  Metcalf led the way with 24.25 pts to make up for his poor outing in week #1 when he only scored 4.25 pts.  Ju Jefferson scored a 97-yard TD which boosted him to 18.5 pts but unfortunately other than that catch he only had 3 receptions for 36 yards.  At RB both starters scored double digits, Achane benefiting from Mostert’s absence to score 18.75 pts but Barkley fell short of his projection with 11.5 pts and missed on beating FE on MNF because Barkley did not score a TD not to mention his costly drop late in the 4th quarter which caused the Eagles to lose.  QB Richardson had a couple of TD bombs in week #1 but he was far more quiet in week #2 as the Colts were held to only 3 pts until Richardson threw a short TD with less than 2 minutes left to mitigate his otherwise catastrophic outing with 3 INTs and only 5.75 pts.  Rookie B Thomas caught a 66-yard pass but it was not for a TD and he only had one other catch the rest of the game so he could not do better than 6.5 pts.

The GloriousBastards finished in the bottom half and slid to 7th place in the standings although the top 7 are all quite close to each other.  WRs were the main problem for Bas this week with only 10.75 pts from Chase + M Evans combined, which is even less than the weekly projection of each of them separately (14 and 12 pts).  McBride was the best receiver of the week for Bas but part of it was luck because he recovered a fumble from Conner in the end zone to score.  Conner is one of the few Bas starters who beat his projection even if slightly with 13.75 pts.  Bijan did not score on MNF and Bo Nix + Mahomes had 2 INTs each, although Mahomes at least had 2 TDs unlike Nix.  It is defense which helped Bas avoid finishing in the red with 16.5 pts from the Steelers and a whopping 25.5 pts from LB Warner who was all over the field with a sack, an INT, and two forced fumbles.

The BeaudoinBrothers came back to earth after a dominant week #1 with an injury riddled week #2.  Cooper Kupp left the game early and was limited to 5.75 pts and will miss some time.  Jalen Hurts lost his main WR AJ Brown but matched his projection with 20 pts.  Tyreek Hill is in the opposite situation, he lost his QB Tua Tago for the forseeable future and only scored 5 pts.  D Buckner was the second best DL in week #1 but got injured after only a handful of snaps and scored only one point.  Thankfully Stevenson and D Henry saved Beaud from an even worse week by scoring a TD each and Dugger contributed as well with 15 pts.  After two weeks Dugger is the second best DB in the PQBFL.  Also kicker Aubrey nailed 4 more FGs for 13 pts.  He is now 8/8 on the season with 7 of the 8 FGs being 40+ yards.

The Decepticons’ season is unravelling at lightning speed.  Dec ranked 2nd and 3rd in preseason projections for key backups and starters, and yet Dec is already very far behind by finishing 8th for the second straight week.  The situation at the highest scoring position QB is a catastrophe of epic proportions.  With J Love already missing time due to his injury, Dec had no choice but to start Tua Tago against the above average defense of the Bills.  Tago got roughed up and threw 3 INTs before being finally knocked out and he exited the game with a paltry score of 2 points.  Who knows when he will come back but unless Love is healthy next week, Dec is facing the prospect of a goose egg at the QB position.  Good luck with that.  Unless the GM makes a move of course. Tago’s injury will not only affect Dec at QB but also WR because going forward the outlook for Waddle is not very bright.  Waddle only scored 6.25 pts this week, but at least Drake London scored the game-winning TD on Dec’s bench so he could be called into action sooner rather than later.  Dec’s other starting WR was DeVonta Smith who is one of the few who benefited from injury with AJ Brown being out he scored 15.75 pts.  Dec could have beat Beaud on MNF not only with D Smith having a good game, but DB Bates even better with 19.5 pts.  However Kyle Pitts was a ghost like in years past with only 4 pts.

As bad as things are going for Dec so far, it’s even worse for the Ballers who finished last for the second straight week.  The Ballers did improve from week 1 (110.5 pts) to week 2 (120.75 pts) but the PQBFL averaged 9 more points in week 2 than week 1 so Ball comparatively lagged pretty much the same.  The Ballers’ second round pick (P Nacua) and third round pick (K Walker) both missed due to injury.  First round pick G Wilson hardly did anything with 7 pts and franchise player Lamar Jackson underperformed relative to his weekly projection by even more than Wilson did, by scoring 13.75 pts.  Only Zay Flowers (16.5 pts) and Kittle (15.75 pts) saved the day on offense but it was a lost cause.  On defense Ball drafted at least 3 players at LB and DB but left DL somewhat exposed with a roster of only 2.  It looks like Ball will pay the price because DL Derrick Brown is out for the year so Ball is left with Chris Jones and nobody else.  Jones scored a pedestrian 5 pts this week.
