Week #5

Weekly summary provided by Bas

With a second straight week finishing first, Wax appears to be running away with the title and has scored consistently high every week this year.  Josh Allen led the way as usual, plus strong performances by Jefferson, Dallas D, and Warner, but it is an emerging Breece Hall, who scored 21 points, will make this team tough to beat.  Only injuries can derail this runaway freight train.

Decepticons finally showed signs of life, finishing second after a couple weeks at or near bottom, with above average scores by Mahomes, Fournette, Kupp, Lockett, and Holcomb, but given the age of this roster, possibly the oldest in the league, and mounting injuries, I would expect inconsistent performances to continue.

Elvis finished in the top 3 for the third week in a row despite missing stud Taylor, with a great performance by Ekeler, and above average scores by all IDPs.  It will always be a tough decision between Jackson and Hurts, but it’s a nice problem to have.  If Taylor can stay healthy and Indy run the ball better, Elvis will challenge for a top 3 finish.

Beaudoin managed to finish fourth, despite lackluster performances by several key players, thanks to the Raiders apparently not being aware that Kelce is kind of a target in the red zone, good grief get a clue Vegas.  Kelce’s big game helped edge out Old and Admirals.  Henry was solid, but underperformers included Mixon, AJ Brown, Pittman, and Russell Wilson, whose career appears to be over, at least in the hands of Denver’s inept coaching staff.  With a solid bench and more consistent performances by the starters though, this team can still contend for the title.

With a fifth place finish, Old has finished middle of the pack two of the last three weeks, and that will continue unless his stars McCaffrey, Hill, and Kamara pick it up and Prescott comes back strong.  Andrews led the way and is the most consistent performer for Old.

A monster game from Chubb allowed the Admirals to edge out the bottom 3 teams and finish 6th, but several players finished well below their average.  Waller injured his hamstring again and got a goose egg, and now ranks a disappointing 12th for TEs after being cut from Bastards, ranking behind the likes of Hurst, Freiermuth, and Tonyan.  It will be tough for this team to finish in the upper half of standings.

The Bastards disappointing season continued with a seventh place finish, due to below average performances from most starters.  Only a big score from Adams saved them from a last place finish, and leaving Gabe Davis on the bench cost them 3 spots.   Pierce had an encouraging game, so there is still a glimmer of hope of a top 3-4 finish if Pierce and Pickett (who’s now starting) can emerge.  Jacobs should probably start from now on, as he’s been much better than Jones most weeks despite weekly projections to the contrary.

Professor edged out Ballers for 8th place by a mere 3 yards rushing, thanks to Jeff Wilson surprising with 17.5 points, but lower place finishes will continue as injuries have decimated this team.  However if the short term injuries clear up, and Etienne (or Robinson) can emerge, a middle of the pack finish is in the realm of possibility.

Ballers brought up the rear for the second time this season, with scores of 5 or lower on six different players.  Cook and Diggs were solid, as was the rookie Walker, but a bottom 2 finish seems very likely unless several players have major turnarounds.
