Week
#13
The Admirals won for already the fourth time this year while nobody
else has more than two wins and thanks to a hot 3-week streak they
are now only 4 rank-points behind Dec in first place. Adm
easily beat Old and everybody else the same way as they have done a
few times this season: with the Packers and Vikings duos of A Jones
+ D Adams and A Thielen + J Jefferson. The rookie WR scored 22
pts this week and has been doing so well that even if he was a
veteran WR he would rank no lower than WR9 equal to T Lockett (Dec)
which is quite telling. With Thielen’s 16.75 pts this week
there are only two WRs ranked higher than him, T Hill (Old) and the
best WR in the PQBFL which is Adm’s very own D Adams who scored 26
pts to pad his lead as the league’s top WR. At RB A Jones did
not have a fantastic game until he scored a 77-yard TD late in the
game to finish with 21.25 pts. On defense the Vikings were the
best of the group with 12.5 pts due to a safety and 4 turnovers
while individual defenders B Baker and J Smith both scored 12
pts.
OldNo7 finished second this week to move into a tie with Bas in the
standings and only one rank-point behind Wax. The standings
are so close that even though Old remains 6th overall, first place
is only 8.5 rank-points away so Old still has an outside chance to
win the league. Old’s best performer this week was from an
unlikely position, LB Schobert scored a TD on an INT return in
addition to 12 tackles+assists and even a sack for a total of 31.5
pts. Rookie LB K Murray was not bad either in CEH’s absence
with 12 tackles, 2 assists, and one sack for 18 pts. At RB,
Gordon has not been having the season that Old wanted as the
league’s 26th best RB but this week he rushed for over 130 yards to
score an adequate 11.75 pts. Old’s WRs were not as productive
as usual however which is why Old could not compete with Adm with
only 17.5 pts total from Ty Hill and K Allen while their combined
projection was over 30 pts. Old’s third receiver Engram also
left to be desired with only 5.5 pts and the Bills defense was not
dominant with only 2 pts against the 49ers.
The Decepticons finished third and took sole possession of first
place with the Bros’ struggles by finishing sandwiched between Old
and FE. RB Carson had his second straight double-digit game
since coming back from injury with 16 pts while Chubb is three out
of four doing the same since his own injury with 13.75 pts this
week. The only time Chubb missed the 10-point mark, he scored
9.5 pts so it’s safe to say that having both those RBs healthy has
been a big difference for Dec. Dec’s WRs were pulling their
weight earlier in the season when RBs were banged up but they have
slowed down a bit, this week R Woods scored 14.25 pts which is fine
but Lockett disappointed with only 8 pts in a juicy matchup against
the Giants. Defense was strong again for Dec with everybody
scoring double digits except 7.5 pts from D Leonard, the best of the
group being J Adams with 15 pts who cemented his lead as the top DB
ahead of B Baker (Adm). Rookie Pittman started and only scored
7.25 pts which was a bummer given the attempted last-minute
substitution for Tua Tago who was questionable, and Tago scored 15
pts on the bench.
Only one week ago it was noted that FlyingElvis had not scored 125
pts all year and after scoring a season-high 124.75 pts in week #12,
now FE scored another season-high this time 139.25 pts which was
worth fourth place, the team’s highest finish of the season.
FE’s best game was by far the Pats defense who destroyed the
Chargers by scoring two TDs on special teams, one blocked FG, two
turnovers and a shutout for a total of over 30 pts. FE had a
great week which could have been even better if the coach had
started rookie J Taylor instead of Higgins. Taylor scored
18.25 pts on the bench while starter Higgins was quiet with 5-56 and
no TD for 7.75 pts which made the difference between second and
fourth place. DL D Lawrence can also be blamed because if he
had done more than only one point during the Tuesday night game,
beating Dec would have been a realistic scenario and perhaps OldNo7
as well. The best offensive players of the week were Cousins
(23 pts) and uncharacteristically WR M Jones who scored a TD with 2
minutes left to move the Lions within three points and they won the
game with another TD moments later. It was FE’s A Peterson who
scored that game-winning TD but he was on the bench this week in
favor of M Sanders (2.5 pts) and Ekeler (5.5 pts) who both had
considerably worse games than Peterson who finished with 14.75 pts
as he also scored another TD in the first half.
WaxOnWaxOff finished in fifth place for the third straight week, got
passed by Adm in the standings and now has Old not far behind.
Wax’s 120.5 pts was not very impressive but enough to at least beat
Bas and Beaud so it was not entirely a bad week for Wax. Wax
was stuck in a close matchup with these two opponents until the last
game of the week but RB L Jackson came through with 28.25 pts
despite throwing for only 107 yards and an INT because he was able
to let loose on the ground with almost 100 yards rushing and a
TD. Kamara had not done much since Brees went down to injury
but this week he was more useful running the ball with 15-88-1 while
backup L Murray (Bas) took a back seat with only 5 carries.
Kamara continued to not be targeted by QB Hill much however with
only 2 receptions for 9 yards. On defense the best game was TJ
Watt who had one sack, one forced fumble, and 4 QB hits for 16 pts
in a game where the Steelers were otherwise lackluster and in fact
the Steelers D only scored 3 pts for Wax while the Bucs D was on
bye. The rookie position was problematic again without Burrow;
backup C Young scored only 3 pts.
The GloriousBastards were missing starting QB Brady who was on bye
so expectations were modest this week but Goff had a good game with
21.5 pts which is higher than Brady’s own average of 20.2 pts per
game. If it was not for TE Waller’s monster game of 13
receptions for 200 yards plus 2 TDs, Bas would have had a bottom of
the barrel week but Waller was worth three rank-points by himself
this week. WRs Diggs and Metcalf were both involved in the
offense with 10-92 and 5-80, respectively, but they did not score a
TD. RBs Elliott and L Murray also did not score but the
difference is that their stats were not as good as Bas’s WRs notably
Murray as noted above only had 17 yards from scrimmage. The
biggest bummer of the week was rookie Herbert who had not scored in
the single digits all year but he hit a brick wall this week with
only 0.75 pt, failing to throw for a TD and being victim of 2
INTs. Defense was not great either with -3 pts from the
Chargers who allowed the Pats to score 45 pts including poor play on
special teams, and Badgley who missed two FG attempts in that
game.
The BeaudoinBrothers finished in the red for the first time of the
season and it was enough to drop them out of first place in the
standings, ceding the way to Dec. The Bros started the season
hot but they have been pedestrian in the last 6 weeks by finishing
no better than third during this time stretch and by being outplayed
by Dec, Adm, Old, and Bas during that period so only 5th.
Other than Kelce who scored 21.75 pts and perhaps rookie Aiyuk with
14.75 pts, the rest of Beaud’s lineup was subpar notably at QB R
Wilson has not been able to get back on track recently and this time
even losing to the Giants at home. Wilson only had one TD pass
(and it was to a RB) with two turnovers so not impressive.
Beaud would have beat Bas by starting K Murray even though he did
not do a lot better by being mostly kept in check by the Rams but he
found a way to finish with 18 pts on the bench. Another way
Beaud could have beat Bas was by starting Butker but he missed so
many extra points this year that the coach is not trusting him
anymore and this week he made all 5 of his FGs, outscoring Myers 14
to 3.5 pts. The Ravens D could have helped Beaud on the last
game of the week but they were so-so by almost allowing the Cowboys
400 yards of offense and they only had one sack and one
turnover. Individual defenders were equally mediocre; Garrett
had a sack but not much else in his game, both Bucs LBs White and L
David were on bye and backups Kirksey and Amos only combined for 11
pts in replacement so they did not get the job done.
The Ballers failed to reach the century mark and finished in 8th
place, only beating Prof this week. C Newton scored 21.25 pts
which was better than his projection but the numbers were
misleading. He scored three short TDs in part because his
defense and special teams helped put him in a good situation,
otherwise Newton was simply unable to move the offense and finished
with a Lamar Jackson-esque 69 yards passing but running for 2 TDs
and 48 yards. D Cook had 179 yards from scrimmage but oddly
he’s not scoring TDs recently as Adm’s receivers have been finding
the end zone, depriving Cook of scoring opportunities. The one
RB who is scoring for Ball is N Hines and scored another TD this
week but his yardage was weak, this time only 32 total yards because
rookie J Taylor (FE) got most of the work. D Hopkins and J
Cook also scored a TD with moderate stats to beat their projection
with 15.5 pts and 9.25 pts but S Watkins could not do the same with
only 4-35 and no TD. On defense nobody reached 10 pts; the
best of the lot were Wagner 7.5 pts and Ju Simmons 8 pts but M
Jenkins only scored 3 pts and the Bears defense has been sinking
fast with their third negative game in the last five.
ProfessorMJ finished last for the 7th time in 13 weeks with only
96.25 pts this week. Josh Allen attempted a comeback late for
Prof with 33.25 pts on MNF but he fell short, Prof losing to Ball by
less than 3 pts. Only having one active RB hurt Prof’s chances
with Conner still out due to covid, Mattison and Barkley injured,
and M Davis was on bye. WR McLaurin who is normally dependable
no matter what is the matchup had his worst game of the year with
only 2.5 pts even though his team was able to move the ball against
the Steelers. Kicker Bailey missed not one but two extra
points to finish in negative territory, and so did the Titans who
forgot to show up in their matchup against the Browns. The
“other ProfMJ Allen”, DL Allen was quiet with only one point and the
rest of Prof’s defense was poor with LBs Hicks and Vander Esch
combining for only 11 pts. On offense one of the few bright
spots was TE Gesicki who scored a TD and caught 9 passes to move up
to TE11 in the PQBFL. WR Kupp was also involved in the offense
with 8 receptions but he did not score so he ended the game with
11.5 pts which was just about his projection. At WR25 in the
league, he has not delivered this season.
