Week #3
After a slow start the Decepticons won for the first time of the
season with a league-high 184.5 pts this week. Dec was
trailing Wax before MNF but Mahomes obliterated L Jackson 44.75 pts
to 10.75 pts to easily finish first. Dec also had other big
scorers for example Chubb scored 22 pts even though K Hunt continues
to be quite active, scoring 10.25 pts from the bench, and even
outscoring starter C Carson who only scored 6.25 pts. However
the reason Carson was quiet is that the Seahawks scored by air
mostly Lockett who scored 3 TDs and 32 pts for Dec which is one of
the rare times where an injury is actually profitable because
Lockett started because Ju Jones was injured. On defense Dec
was affected by Ja Adams’ injury during the game but the 49ers
defense finally had a good game after disappointing the first two
weeks, this time they held the Giants in check and scored 14
pts.
After being quite average the first two weeks, OldNo7 finished 2nd
and moved up to third place in the standings thanks to a solid
171.75 pts score in week 3. The top scorer this week came from
the most unlikely of positions: team defense. The Colts had a
fun afternoon against the Jets by scoring more than double the
points than they allowed thanks to their 2 defensive TDs plus one
safety for a total of 16 points while the Jets only scored 7
pts. A Rodgers had a good day with 26.25 pts despite his top
receiver D Adams (Adm) being injured. Speaking of injuries,
Old did not expect to finish as high as 2nd with McCaffrey injured
but at least S Michel was adequate in his replacement with 140 yards
from scrimmage. Most of the production for Old this week came
from WRs not RBs however with 23 pts from A Robinson and 17 pts from
Ty Hill. M Gordon did not capitalize on Lindsay’s absence with
only 8 rushes for 26 yards plus 4 short receptions. Rookie CEH
did well with 134 total yards but unfortunately he did not score a
TD because Mahomes did everything himself.
WaxOnWaxOff finished in the blue for the third straight week but
came away a bit let down because of L Jackson as mentioned
above. Jackson showed that he does not belong in the elite QB
category yet – he did not even reach 100 passing yards in a game
where the Ravens were behind all game long, at home against an
average defense. This stunning degree of incompetence will
make it impossible for L Jackson to be worth a starting QB level,
let alone franchise player and in fact Roethlisberger is currently
easily outscoring Jackson so far this year. The reason Wax
continues to finish near the top of the standings is rather because
of A Kamara fully benefits from M Thomas (Beaud) injury because
Brees throws to nobody but Kamara at the moment and Kamara scored
30.25 pts on only 6 carries; Kamara finished the game 13-139-2
receiving with pedestrian rushing stats. At WR Ridley had over
100 receiving yards but did not score unlike weeks 1-2 so his score
was down to 10.75 pts and co-starting WR DJ Moore was worse with
5.25 pts. Wax had an excellent week from individual defenders
with 2 sacks and a forced fumble from A Donald, 10 tackles+assists
from Z Cunningham, and an INT each from F Warner and H Smith.
All of those guys did well but were outscored by S Thompson on the
bench with 20 pts so Wax even had backup firepower left.
ProfessorMJ had their first good week in franchise history with
150.5 pts and 4th place, led again by Josh Allen with 29.75
pts. So far Allen is QB3 in the league and is starting to look
like a candidate for franchise player if he can put up a good score
against a good defense such as the Rams. In that same game, C
Kupp woke up after a slow start of the season with 20.25 pts while J
Conner also did well with 18.25 pts immediately after Ekeler was
traded away, meaning Conner will pretty much start every week going
forward. Drake will have to do better however because he only
scored 6.5 pts this week and ranks RB21 so far this season. On
defense, three of the 4 starters scored double digits, notably T
Walker had 10 tackles 2 assists and Jonathan Allen scored 13 pts
with Ingram injured. Rookie B Edwards eked out 4.25 pts before
getting injured so Prof might be without a starting rookie now that
all three are sidelined. Other than Josh Allen, Prof does not
have players at the top of rankings at their respective position
except for kicker Crosby who is easily ahead of Tucker (Adm)
including this week where Crosby made all 7 of his kicks including a
couple of long FGs 49 and 52 yards.
The Ballers finished 5th for the second straight week with 135.5 pts
led by Dak Prescott who scored 32.5 pts in a shootout. D Cook
also had a big game with 20.5 pts and Hopkins also did well with
10-137 although he did not score. The Ballers’ main problem so
far has been that franchise player Mixon is simply not getting the
job done. This week the Bengals were competitive in a tie in
Philly and despite having an extra half period of play, all he could
do was 17-49 for an average per carry below 3.0 and he was not
particularly involved in the passing game either with only
2-16. After three weeks he ranks RB28 in the PQBFL and it’s
not because of lack of volume – he is simply ineffective. The
Ballers have no other option however because other than Cook all
other RBs on the roster are backups. Kicker Zuerlein also had
a day to forget with two missed extra points. Rookie Z Moss
was injured so Swift started but he’s buried on the depth chart
behind old man A Peterson (FE) and Swift only scored 1.5 pt.
The BeaudoinBrothers could have had a decent week but they
self-destructed by starting K Murray (18.25 pts) again and benched
league-leading R Wilson for the second straight
week. Unlike week 2 where Wilson was playing the
Patriots, this week there was no reason because Wilson was playing
Dallas and he exploded for 44.25 pts on the bench. Murray was
not horrible but he failed to beat his projection in a bad home loss
against the Lions and he was responsible because of his 3
INTs. At RB D Henry scored his first 2 TDs of the season and
finished with 20.75 pts and Gurley was decent as well with 12.75
pts. At WR A Cooper caught lots of balls and so did rookie CD
Lamb but all TDs went to no-name C Wilson which is bad news from the
Bros’ receivers, and one other TD went to Gallup who was on the
bench so the TD distribution could not have been any worse.
And what to say of Marquise Brown and his paltry 2-13 display on MNF
with an inept QB throwing the rock - the Bros cannot wait for M
Thomas to come back to health. On defense the Saints were a
disaster again with a negative score against the Packers even
without their top playmaker Adams. On defense M Garrett (16
pts) and JJIII (12 pts) did well but the Bros were affected by
Kirksey leaving the game early after injury and only scored 3
pts.
FlyingElvis finished in the red for the third straight week and
trading away injured franchise player Barkley did not help
especially since FE benched Ekeler (18.75 pts) in favor of Fournette
(2.75 pts) which cost the team two ranks. JJSS scored a TD for
15 pts and M Evans scored as well, twice even, but the problem is
that those two 1-yard TDs were his only receptions of the game which
was puzzling as it was more like the output of a TE. QB
Bridgewater beat his projection slightly with 14.75 pts but was
outscored by Cousins on the bench with 21.25 pts. Cousins is
so unpredictable that it’s hard to start him and will continue to
give headaches to FE all season long. First round pick M
Sanders was not very impressive this week with 8.75 pts. He
almost rushed for 100 yards but he was not active via the pass and
did not score a TD even playing against a weak Bengals team, at home
to boot. On defense the Pats had a good afternoon of work
against the Raiders and scored a TD to finish with 12.5 pts which
was higher than the scores of any starting individual defenders on
FE’s team, the best two being K Joseph (11 pts) and Kendricks (11.5
pts). Rookie J Taylor scored a short TD but failed to reach
his somewhat elevated projection. So far he’s ROO5 in the
PQBFL so not bad, but he would be expected to be third best in the
league after Burrow (Wax) and CEH (Old).
The GloriousBastards have been trending down from 4th to 7th and now
8th place. This time, QB was not the problem because Brady
scored 24.75 pts which is starter-level of scoring for a QB, and
backup Goff even did better with 27.75 pts which is enough to make
Bas feel comfortable having flexibility to play matchups on a weekly
basis. This week the problem was that the Cowboys moved the
ball by air not on the ground so Elliott failed to reach double
digits, and Josh Jacobs was weak with only 3.75 pts as he was
contained by the Pats and also lost a fumble. At WR, ODB came
back to his previous level of mediocrity after having a decent week
2, this time he only caught 4 balls for 59 yards and no TD. DK
Metcalf scored 13.5 pts which is all right but he was left with
crumbs compared to Tyler Lockett (Dec) in that game. Bas is
starting to miss injured Kittle because Waller is bothered by an
injury of his own and only scored 2.25 pts. At the rookie
position the situation is better because Bas is racking up a large
number of injury points with Akers sidelined and benefiting from Ju
Herbert starting while Tyrod Taylor is out. Herbert scored
12.25 pts this week which is good for rookie standards but for a QB
that is nothing to write home about and far inferior to the level of
production that Wax is currently reaping from Burrow.
The Admirals’ crash is complete, after 1st place in week 1 and 6th
place in week 2, Adm finished dead last this week and more than 20
points behind Bas in 8th place. The only player who beat his
projection was D Watson with 19 pts but his projection with 18.5 pts
so he barely made it. B Baker scored 9.5 pts which was exactly
equal to his projection, and the rest of the starting lineup
underperformed, first off WR John Brown who scored a goose egg with
Josh Allen throwing for 311 yards so Adams’ injury could not have
been more painful. At RB the good news is that Ingram
dominated Dobbins for carries 7 to 1, however Ingram could not get
more than 30 yards rushing from those only 7 rushes and he was
outplayed by G Edwards who finished the game with 39 rushing
yards. Anyway all those scores are way short of having any
relevance for a starting RB. Aaron Jones scored a short TD and
69 rushing yards was decent by his standards but the big difference
is that this week he was not involved in the passing attack much,
even with Adams out. TE M Andrews sucked like the rest of
Ravens receivers because of L Jackson and only scored 4 pts.
On defense the Vikings were useless against the Titans and finished
in negative territory, while all defenders finished with single
digits.
