WaxOnWaxOff is off to a great start with the team’s first win since
2019 week 6 and considering the second place last week, that puts
Wax comfortably in first place in the standings. Rookie Burrow
was the team leader with 26 pts against the shitty Browns and is the
most dominating player of any position so far with a 7.0 pt per game
lead over P Queen (Dec). Wax was trailing Beaud heading into
MNF but Kamara crushed his projection with 24.5 pts for the easy
win. WR Ridley was also a major contributor with 24.25 pts
this week and he is having the looks of a WR1 in Atlanta rather than
WR2. TE N Fant scored for the second straight game for a total
of 15.75 pts and even backup Jo Smith ranks TE4 in the league, right
behind Fant at TE3. So much for TE being a weakness.
The BeaudoinBrothers had a good week with 159.75 pts and had a
chance to win until the Saints defense played miserably on MNF to
finish the game with 1.5 pt with the Ravens D on the bench with 15.5
pts. QB K Murray was given the start because he was playing
Washington and had a good game with 30 pts but R Wilson showed that
he cannot be benched no matter who his opponent is by throwing for 5
TD passes against the Patriots defense. The Bros finished a
bit higher in the rankings than last week because individual defense
was improved: all four starters scored double digits whereas last
week only one of them scored more than 6.5 pts. Rookie CD Lamb
also benefited from the Cowboys playing from behind to catch 6
passes for 106 yards.
The Decepticons improved from a slow start in week 1 with an
adequate third place this week especially considering Nick Bosa’s
intra-game injury which meant he finished with zero. N Chubb
started things on the right track for Dec on TNF with 22 pts but
Hunt continued to steal some valuable touches with 18.25 pts of his
own from the bench. RB Carson had another game with a TD via
the pass but otherwise nothing special on the ground; he nonetheless
managed to easily beat his projection with 15 pts. At WR
things were not easy this week because Godwin missed the game to
injury and Ju Jones seems over the hill and might have been
overtaken by Ridley. In a huge shootout, Jones only scored a
paltry 3 points when on a day where the Falcons scored 39 pts which
does not bode well for the rest of the season. It was rather
Dec’s TE which scored well unlike the WRs with Hurst scoring a long
TD and finished the game with 16.5 pts.
OldNo7 marginally improved from week 1’s fifth place with fourth
place this week. A Rodgers was good but not as dominant as
last week with 20 pts because Aaron Jones did most of the damage on
the ground so Rodgers did not have to throw a whole lot during the
game not mentioning that he top WR D Adams (Adm) got hurt. The
worst news of the week was McCaffrey’s injury but thankfully it
happened after he scored 19.25 pts. The other starting RB
Gordon did well with 13 pts but if Old needs to reach to a backup RB
then it’s clear that McCaffrey is not replaceable; K Johnson, S
Michel, and T Coleman will only provide a fraction of McCaffrey’s
production. It could have easily been a better week if Old had
started Higbee who scored 3 TDs on the bench rather than starting E
Engram who was adequate with 6-65 but he did not score. It was
a similar issue at team defense where the Bills were porous, almost
lost the game and finished in negative territory while the Colts
scored 19 pts on the bench. However, unlike for Higbee, the
coach can hardly be blamed for starting the Bills against the
Dolphins.
The Ballers finished in the middle of the pack led by Prescott who
scored 34.5 pts in a comeback effort but oddly only one of his 4 TDs
were in the air. At WR D Hopkins topped his already lofty
projection with 17.25 pts and so far no other WR scored more points
than him other than Ridley (Wax). The other Ball starting WR
was less productive with AJ Green only scoring 4.25 pts despite
Burrow having a good day. In that same game Mixon could not
get going on the ground with only 46 rushing yards and D Cook was
equally bad like the rest of the Vikings offense but he scored a
meaningless TD with 5 minutes left when the game was already out of
hand in addition to scoring the 2-point conversion so his final
score did not reflect the problems of the offense. On defense
all four individual starters failed to reach 10 pts and the Bears
barely did with 10.5 pts.
The Admirals could not follow up the week 1 win with another
dominant performance and finished 6th. The only big game for
Adm was Aaron Jones who exploded for 38.5 pts but part of it was due
to D Adams’ injury which left Adm with only 4.75 pts from their star
receiver so Jones’ game was not entirely a positive: it was
neutralized by having another Packer on the starting team.
Adm’s other WR also did considerably worse than week 1 as Cousins
was abominable and only completed 11 passes all game despite playing
from behind and 3 of those receptions went to Thielen, a big
difference from last week when Thielen scored twice. Adm also
has a developing problem at QB with D Watson having a slow start
(QB16 after 2 weeks), Garoppolo is injured, and Mayfield still does
not look like a former 1st pick overall. At TE, M Andrews
scored twice in week 1 but this week the Ravens did not need him and
he only caught one pass.
The GloriousBastards attempted a comeback on MNF thanks to a
dominant performance by Waller who caught 12 passes for 100+ yards
and a TD, brilliantly replacing Kittle who was injured.
However in that game, Josh Jacobs did not score and defenders C
Jordan (5 pts) and D Davis (9.5 pts) were so-so therefore GB fell
just short of beating the Ballers and the Admirals. Similar to
Adm, Bas does not seem to be on the right track at QB because Brady
threw 2 INTs in week 1 and even this week against a lesser defense
when the Bucs won the game, Brady only scored 8 pts because of two
more turnovers. At least Goff did well on the bench but so far
he’s QB15 in the PQBFL which is pretty much in line where most would
have ranked him before the draft, in other words not starting
caliber (top 9 QB). Bas was negatively affected this week by
Prescott (Ball) stealing not one, not two, but three goal line TDs
from Elliott which will be painful if this is repeated again later
this season. Most of the production for Bas this week was from
receivers, not only Waller was excellent but ODB finally scored a TD
and DK Metcalf also scored on a bomb like ODB.
FlyingElvis’ season started badly with injuries and things got even
worse this week with Barkley being lost for the rest of the season
which will have important ramifications because it even puts in
doubt his value as a potential franchise player 2021. Not
having Barkley is possibly going to also hurt the production of FE’s
backup QB D Jones, plus the fact that Bridgewater is nowhere near a
startable QB (3 pts this week), and Cousins is an utter
disaster. This group of QBs might be one of the worse the
PQBFL has ever seen. On the plus side, injuries were not
universally bad for FE, for example J Taylor benefited from Mack’s
injury by scoring 14 pts and M Evans took advantage of Godwin’s
absence (Dec) to score 19 pts which only helped FE beat Prof but
otherwise this scoring was in a lost cause. On defense the
coach benched the Pats because of the matchup with the Seahawks but
the Chiefs did not do any better, the Chiefs scored zero and the
Pats would have scored negative points but they had a pick-6 to
finish the game at 6 pts from the bench.
ProfessorMJ’s expansion season promises to be painful despite Josh
Allen lighting up the scoreboard with 40.25 pts this week which was
almost as much as all other starters combined. Drake and
Ekeler had a decent amount of touches but neither of them scored,
similar thing for Kupp but even worse for him because he lost a
fumble, and the coach benched McLaurin (20.25 pts) in favor of
Fuller who was not even targeted a single time all game while being
in and out of the game all afternoon due to a bad hamstring.
The coach might have messed up at TE as well by starting Herndon;
even with the Jets playing from behind he only caught one pass,
whereas regular starter Gesicki was benched and scored 19.5
pts. Prof’s rookies are problematic too and for an expansion
team this is a double concern because it also affects 2021.
Ruggs and B Edwards only combined for 3-46 no TD on a day where the
Raiders could move the ball at will, and Mims remains injured on a
hapless Jets team.
