Despite fielding an incomplete lineup once again, the
BeaudoinBrothers finally beat Dec for the first time since week #6
with an impressive 177.75 pt performance without having a starting
DL. Not only M Garrett is another bone head on the Bros’ squad
who will miss the rest of the season without accruing injury points
like A Brown, but unfortunately his suspension started exactly at
the same time as DL Ingram’s bye week so the GM traded for DL F
Clark at the trade deadline last week to fill the hole.
However this trade was a stupid move because the GM did not bother
checking F Clark’s bye week which was the same as Ingram so all
three DLs could not start this week. Fortunately none of this
mattered because for once the backup WRs for the Bros came through
in TY Hilton and Thielen’s absence. A Robinson caught 6 passes
for 131 yards and a TD and J Landry did even better with 10-148-2
but that is because both feasted on weak teams the Giants and the
Dolphins so the same cannot be expected every week. RB D Henry
who was almost traded to Bas a couple of weeks ago is back in his
season-ending form like in 2018 with 159 rushing yards and 2 TDs
against the decent Jax defense. Rookie K Murray was on bye but
backup rookie LB Devin White filled in beautifully with 16 pts and
since he’s never starting nobody has paid attention but he’s the 5th
best rookie in the PQBFL so far. Another positive surprise is
LB Schobert who had 2 INTs and 4 passes defended in week #11 against
the Steelers and he did exactly the same this week against the
Dolphins to power his way to the top defensive player in the PQBFL
with an average of 13.0 pts per game right in front of D Leonard
(Bas) at 12.6 pts.
OldNo7 finished in the blue on an even-numbered week for the first
time this season with a strong week finishing at 159.25 pts.
Old remains in 7th place in the standings but there is now a tight
cluster between 4th and 7th with only 3 rank-points separating Adm
in 4th to Old in 7th. Old’s strength this season has been WRs
by having three top WRs which means when one of them is on bye such
as K Allen this week, Old does not miss a beat by starting D Hopkins
and C Godwin. Those two WRs combined for 53.5 pts this week
thanks to 2 TDs each. RB McCaffrey continued his thing with 2
more TDs of his own and 133 yards from scrimmage and even RB T
Coleman scored a TD to help Old finish near the top. The QB
position has been more difficult recently however and Wentz
struggled this week with only 4.75 pts at home against the Seahawks
and he dropped to QB15 in the rankings which is not good enough for
a starting QB. The problem for Old is that Trubisky is even
worse and Mariota is warming up the bench in TEN so there is no
alternative; for Old it’s Wentz or bust down the stretch. On
defense nobody expected the Broncos to put up great numbers against
the Bills defense in Buffalo, and the Bills did even better than
projections with 15 pts by holding the Broncos to only 3 pts and 134
total yards. Rookie RB Montgomery had a modest emergence in
weeks #8-9 with 33.5 pts total, but since then he’s back to suckness
with 12.5 pts in the subsequent 3 weeks including this week a dismal
13 rushes for 22 yards no TD at home against a bad Giants team when
the Bears did not have to play catch up and throw all game.
WaxOnWaxOff exploded on MNF for 39.25 pts from star QB L Jackson to
finish in 3rd place comfortably ahead of Dec in 4th place to make
Dec continue to wonder about that trade. Dec was able to
afford trading a QB away for sure, but who would have thought that L
Jackson would be outscoring Mahomes by almost 4 pts per game at this
stage of the season. Jackson was by far Wax’s top player this
week but Ertz was not too bad either with 21.5 pts. After a
slow start of the season when Ertz only had 62.25 pts in the first 8
weeks (7.8 pts average), in the last three games Ertz scored almost
as many points as in the first 8 weeks with 56 pts in weeks 9-12
including the bye so an average of 18.7 pts during this
stretch. Ertz has moved up to TE5 in the rankings which is not
far from where we expected him to end up before the season
started. Wax did not dominate this week because of weaker
games from Kamara who continues to struggle with 8.5 pts and even
being outscored by teammate L Murray (Sun) who ended the game with
12.25 pts. RBs Conner and Jo Howard were injured so that does
not help Wax but at least backup Ro Jones has been doing an ok job
recently with his third double digit game in the last 4 weeks.
The WR position was more painful this week with both L Fitz and Ty
Hill on bye which meant that backups S Shephard and D Westbrook had
to start. Shephard has been affected by concussion issues for
most of the season but he played this week and scored 6.75 pts,
topped by 11.25 pts from Westbrook which was a bit better than his
weekly projection. On defense Wax was disappointing besides 13
pts from the Steelers. A Donald only scored 1 pt, Kuechly 6
pts, and Bethea 3 pts all of which were significantly below
expectations. Only TJ Watt beat his projection but only by a
small margin with 10.5 pts this week.
The Decepticons were significantly handicapped this week with P
Mahomes, D Cook, and Tua Tago on bye, and even worse with Kelce on
bye without a healthy backup TE (Hooper injured) and C Jones on bye
too without a healthy backup DL (JJ Watt injured) so Dec was missing
not one but two starters in the lineup. Consequently weekly
projections were calling for a rough week for Dec but they came out
ok in 4th place although lost 3 rank points to the Bros. Brees
came to the rescue with Mahomes out with 25.25 pts but K Hunt did
not do as well at RB in replacement for Cook with 7.75 pts ;
fortunately he scored a TD to salvage decent stats. The bigger
problem was actually C Carson who was put in the dog house after
fumbling and then R Penny (Wax) took over from there limiting Carson
to 4.75 pts. Statistically the fumble was charged to R Wilson
not Carson but the coach knew what happened and benched
Carson. This is a concern for Dec because there are now
question marks about whether Carson will remain bell cow RB and Dec
needs him because K Hunt is not starter material at least not
yet. At WR unfortunately M Evans has been sharing the
spotlight with C Godwin and this week was Godwin’s turn to shine and
Evans was held to only 7.5 pts. The good news is that Ridley
came through again with Lockett on the bench (perhaps not fully
recovered from injury) and Ridley scored 19 pts to help Dec beat
FE. Individual defenders D Jones, C Littleton, and J Adams all
outscored their projection with a double digit score but on MNF the
Rams D was awful getting destroyed by the Ravens and finished the
game with negative 2.5 pts.
FlyingElvis had a golden opportunity to beat both Beaud and Dec who
had incomplete lineups but many of FE’s starters did not show up for
example at TE B Watson started during H Henry’s bye week but it was
the same result as an incomplete lineup because Watson scored a
goose egg at the worst possible time with Henry out. FE
benched A Rodgers who was awful with only 8.25 pts against the
49ers, but Prescott was even worse as starter with 4.25 pts against
the Pats. I guess that benefited the Pats D but they scored 10
pts for FE which outscored their weekly projection by a much smaller
margin than how badly Prescott underscored his own projection so the
net of the two was a bad result for FE. At RB it’s difficult
to bench a franchise player but S Barkley just does not have it and
he scored 5 pts this week while L Bell scored 9 pts on the
bench. Fortunately it was not L Fournette who was benched
because he was FE’s top scorer this week with 23.25 pts despite the
Jags being crushed by the Titans. On defense DL C Heyward led
the way with 13 pts and without anybody noticing because he is
rarely putting up enormous numbers, he has now taken over the DL1
spot in the entire PQBFL after 12 weeks in large part because he is
consistently a strong performer but without ever anything eye
popping like 20+ pt games. Rookie Singletary continues to have
to fight Gore for carries but this week the Bills ran so much that
the pie was big enough to be shared, 21 carries for Singletary and
15 carries for Gore. Just on volume alone Singletary was able
to reach 100 yards rushing although the Bills scored their TDs
through the air this week so Singletary was left out and finished
with 9.5 pts.
The Admirals had been trending up with good results in weeks 9-11
but stumbled in week 12 with 6th place and only 112.75 pts. It
was a week of extremes for Adm with some excellent scores and some
terrible ones. The coach picked the correct starting QB
Mayfield who toyed with the Dolphins and scored 26 pts, better than
Garoppolo (23.25 pts) and much better than D Carr (1.75 pts).
M Ingram scored a couple of short TDs and D Adams got his best game
since week #4 (he was injured week #5) with 16 pts despite the
Packers going nowhere on offense this week. However the lows
of Adm’s lineup this week were pretty low and pretty numerous which
sunk the team. D Haskins might be a starting rookie QB which
can be valuable but that doofus only scored 1.25 pt and celebrated
the win with a selfie ; we should add to the PQBFL rules that
selfies before the game is over are worth minus 10 points given how
stupid that is. For that alone this writer will go out on a
limb and predict Haskins will never make it as a top 10 QB in this
league because he’s just a clown. At WR A Cooper was even
worse, not catching a single pass and scored his lone point on a
tackle. TE M Andrews somehow did not partake in the 45-point
festival of the Ravens offense with only 2 receptions no TD which
illustrates how each individual in that offense can have a pretty
low floor on any given week. Finally at DL with both D Hunter
and J Bosa out on bye, the only reason D Harrison was drafted was to
start in week 12 and week 12 only. The dude sucks so much that
all he could muster was one tackle the one week the coach needed
him.
After a couple of weeks out of the red in weeks 10-11 the Ballers
fell back in the red with 7th place this week but edged Sun which
was important to extend their lead over Sun in the standings to 6
rank-points. QB Foles is now back healthy but backup Josh
Allen has been doing so well that he remained the starter and that
proved to be the right call with Allen outscoring Foles 20.5 pts to
12.5 pts. Allen was a modest investment in the draft and he
has paid dividends by ranking QB8 so far this year. At RB
Mixon was back in the doldrums with only 6.5 pts and for RB2 it was
slim pickings with Breida and C Thompson both injured. The
Ballers went with N Hines who was limited to 5 pts despite Mack
(Bas) being out to injury. At WR Ju Jones was outscored by
Ridley (Dec) and underperformed with 8.25 pts which was not expected
in the juicy home matchup against the Bucs D. Golladay also
underperformed with 7 pts which was his second bad week in a row
after the hot stretch weeks 8-10 where he scored 55.25 pts during
that period. One good news was TE J Cook who scored a
season-high 17.75 pts and he’s been a main contributor for Sun (when
healthy) given how useless T Burton has been and given that Njoku
has been injured since week 2. The coach messed up by starting
college QB T Lawrence on bye and leaving 4.5 pts on the bench and
similar thing at rookie position where injured P Williams started,
leaving 7 pts on the bench (M Sanders). Both Adm and FE should
be thankful for the oversight and benefited because those 11.5 pts
made the difference between 7th and 5th place.
The SunshineBoys lost ground to the Ballers this week but at least
they avoided becoming the first team this season to finish last
three straight week. Nonetheless it was the sixth consecutive
week in the bottom two which is something which has not happened
since the infamous Cowbells finished bottom two from week #11 to #17
in 2014 and the franchise folded immediately after that, forever
covered in shame. The Boys have not been the most affected by
injuries this season ranking 6th out of 9 in injury points so far,
but week #12 was more difficult with Sun earning the most weekly
injury points other than the Ballers. Not only D Freeman was
injured but with M Gordon on bye it meant that backup Ballage had to
start and with the matchup against the Browns which was not
terrible, all he could muster is 7 rushes for 13 yards. And we
thought the Dolphins had confidence in Ballage after trading Drake
away! Fortunately L Murray did better than Ballage during
Gordon & Freeman’s absence with 12.25 pts and outscoring Kamara
as mentioned above. JJSS has not been great this year and he
missed this week to injury which was less of an issue than the RB
position because Edelman is a capable backup and he scored 12.5 pts
off the bench. Starting LB Vander Esch is now injured which
stings more than JJSS’s injury because backup LB P Brown was waived
by the Bengals and the other backup LB L Alexander only scored a
single point and is not worth starting, ranking only LB27 in the
PQBFL. But there were a few good news which helped Sun avoid
the bottom this week, first of all ODB scored his first double digit
game since week #6 with 17 pts but if he had not scored on the
Dolphins then he probably never would. In addition, Sun has
struggled at the rookie position all year and started N Fant this
week who only scored 3.5 pts but it’s worth noting that Pats rookie
WR Harry who missed almost all year to injury is back to health and
scored the Pats’ lone TD so he might be of some use for Sun down the
stretch.
The GloriousBastards finished dead last this week, completely
erasing the first place success in week #11 and dropped below Adm
and Wax in the standings and now Old is only one rank-point
behind. It was the first time this year that GB failed to
reach 100 points and everybody underperformed relative to
projections other than M Thomas (20 pts) and the kicker Lambo (6.5
pts) but both of them only beat their projection by less than 1-2
pts. Everywhere else in Bas’ lineup was shit, starting with QB
Brady who has not scored over 20 pts since week #5, after starting
hot with 20+ pts in 4 of the first 5 weeks. This week he was
held to one TD but 17 for 37 passing with less than 200 yards is
quite disturbing. In that same game E Elliott got decent
yardage (126 total) but failed to score and more is needed from a
franchise player. With M Mack injured and Ekeler on bye, Bas
had to start P Lindsay who went nowhere against the Bills defense
and finished with 5.5 pts. But that was still better than
teammate C Sutton who started at WR and produced a dud of 2.25 pts
while Diggs was on bye. At TE Kittle was banged up so Bas went
the safe route by starting Waller who is having a decent season but
Waller scored 5 pts and Kittle going off for 20.25 pts on the
bench. Defense was crap all over for Bas, maybe D Leonard was
not too bad with 9 pts but below his season average of 12.6 pts,
however other individual defenders were worse with 4 pts from Bates
and Roquan Smith for example. By the way, is there something
wrong with R Smith? After missing a week mysteriously earlier
this season for nebulous reasons, he has not been performing to the
same level as his rookie season in 2018 when most expected an
improvement. To cap off defense the Broncos were flat against
the Bills and finished with a measly 2 pts.
