After
a rough 5-week start, WaxOnWaxOff came out of nowhere and won for the
first time of the season and moved to within striking distance of
4th-6th place where there is a triple tie between Old, Bas, and
Adm. Wax was somewhat lagging behind Beaud until SNF when J
Conner got his best game of the year with 22.75 pts, TJ Watt hit the QB
4 times, and the Steelers defense was dominant with a TD and 14
pts. For the first time the L Jackson trade paid off as he scored
27.25 pts despite only one TD and most of his scoring was based on his
152 yards rushing. Ty Hill’s return to health was not foreign to
Wax winning this week as he came back with a bang and scored 22
pts. Wax leads the league in injury points but if key players can
get healthy Wax should be able to compete. That includes Kamara
who has been hobbled recently and only scored 4.5 pts this week.
The BeaudoinBrothers came close to winning a third straight week but
Aaron Jones fell flat on MNF with only 2 points including a fumble lost
while teammate J Williams (Dec) did most of the scoring on the
ground. The BeaudoinBrothers have been largely injury-free this
year but this week the odd situation involving COL QB D’Eriq King had
an impact. King decided to take the year off to keep his
eligibility for next year and with J Fields on bye, the Bros did not
have anybody to start at the college position and it was costly just
like a season-ending injury would. The rest of Beaud’s lineup was
very much up and down, with rookie K Murray and M Ryan both scoring
over 30 pts in an offensive festival which benefited the Bros. N
Chubb scored two more TDs but J Landry was the wrong WR to start as he
scored 4.75 pts with Jeffery scoring 18.75 pts on the bench so the bye
week of TY Hilton and A Robinson also cost the Bros first place.
The Decepticons bounced back from their disastrous 7th place in week #5
but still could not beat Beaud in week #6, finishing 5.25 pts
behind. Mahomes underformed relative to his lofty projections
once again with 3 TDs but two turnovers, and none of the TDs went to
Kelce which is a broken record, so Kelce was limited to 6.75 pts and
dropped from TE5 to TE7 in the league. The other two starting
receivers for Dec were not materially better with 8.75 pts from T
Lockett and 5.75 pts from R Woods. It should be noted that Woods
did not even catch a single pass in that game but he managed to score
some points thanks to a rushing TD. On defense newly acquired L
Collins was stellar against the Dolphins with 10 tackles, 2 assists,
one sack, 2 passes defended, one forced fumble and one QB hit. He
was all over the field and did almost everything besides an INT and a
TD. Defensive rookie D Bush was actually the one with the INT and
defensive TD and proved to be the correct starting rookie with D Jones
benched along with his 3 INTs.
The GloriousBastards scored a sub-par 125.5 pts but in a low scoring
week it was enough for 4th place. The Broncos D were surprisingly
the team leaders with 20 pts and they have now scored 33 pts in the
last 2 weeks after scoring only 5 pts in the first four weeks which is
a massive turnaround. T Brady was shaky and did not throw a TD
pass against the weak Giants D but he managed to score twice on the
ground to salvage an ok game which was important because Goff was awful
on the bench. Franchise player Zeke did well in a losing effort
against the Jets with 17.5 pts but co starting RB Ekeler is quickly
falling off the map with the return of Gordon and now to make things
worse, with the return of H Henry (FE) who is taking care of most of
the Chargers offense. Ekeler only scored 2.25 pts and carried the
ball 5 times plus 3 receptions which won’t be enough on a going forward
basis. Ekeler is still top 5 RB in the PQBFL in the rankings but
it’s only a matter of time before he falls out of the top 10, and
possibly out of the top 18 as well so no longer starting material in a
9-team league.
Mr. Average FlyingElvis finished right in the middle 5th place for the
third time in four weeks and lost some ground to Dec in 2nd
place. A Rodgers barely beat his projection on MNF with 19 pts
but otherwise the entire rest of FE’s starting lineup failed to reach
double digits except for the dominant Pats D who once again feasted on
a bad team the Giants and scored 30 pts to pile unto what was already a
huge lead as the top defense in the PQBFL. They now lead the
Bears (Ball) but almost 10 pts per game which is just about as big as
you will ever see from any position in any given season so they are by
far the PQBFL MVPs so far. Unfortunately the rest of FE’s lineup
was mediocre with 9.25 pts and 9.75 pts from RBs L Bell and Fournette,
8.5 pts from WR M Williams while C Kupp was even worse with 4.75
pts. FE started TE De Walker not knowing how healthy H Henry was
and Walker sucked again with 5 pts while Hunter scored 24 pts on the
bench. It does not take a genius to figure out who will be the
starting TE for FE the rest of the year.
The SunshineBoys finished 6th for the second straight week but because
of Wax’s blow-out week, Sun is entrenched in 8th place in the
standings, far ahead of Ball and far behind Wax. Sun was affected
by TE Dissly’s injury this week and he is now out for the year and
scored a goose egg. None of Sun’s backups Ji Graham and V
McDonald have scored nearly as well as Dissly so far so it will be a
painful absence at TE for the rest of the season. The coach
messed up by specifically benching Edelman on TNF while he scored 14.5
pts and then on Sunday attempted to start Edelman which was an illegal
move. Sun got JJSS by default and he only scored 1.25 pt so this
incident alone meant Sun lost 5th place to FE. Also the coach
started Dunlap who was on bye but it did not matter much because backup
K Clark only scored one point. On offense most of the production
came from D Watson (24.5 pts) and D Freeman (20.75 pts).
The Admirals finished in the red for the first time of the season and
barely reached the century mark with 102.75 pts. In a week to
forget, QB Garoppolo led the 49ers to victory but he had more turnovers
than TDs so he was limited to 7.25 pts while backup turnover machine
Baker Mayfield threw 3 more INTs on the bench but easily outscored
Garoppolo nonetheless with 17 pts. Gurley was out to injury this
week which stung for Adm; backups behind Ingram are simply not good
enough and White could only muster 3.75 pts in a crowded backfield for
the Pats. Fortunately M Ingram scored his weekly TD and finished
the game with 11 pts. Ingram is RB6 so far in the PQBFL and soon
to be top 5 with the upcoming demise of Ekeler (Bas). At WR D
Adams and C Kirk were both injured which was supposed to be a problem
but backup Ro Anderson did well as a sub with 19.25 pts. The bad
game was surprisingly not from Andereson, but rather from starter A
Cooper who only caught one short pass. On defense Adm was not
impressive with all four defenders and the Vikings scoring single
digits.
Week #6 was an even-numbered week so OldNo7 sucked nearly as much as
weeks #2 and #4, in fact Old did not finish last like week #2 but
scored less than 100 pts for the first time of the year. Most of
it falls on the coach who was sleeping at the wheel big time. The
coach started the Bills on bye and left 12.5 pts on the bench with the
Saints having a good week. The coach also started Poyer on bye
with the Bills, and left T Mathieu’s 11.5 pts on the bench. At
defensive flex Onwuasor started but he was injured; Ansah could have
started and scored 6 pts. All of this made the difference between
4th place and 8th place. Not to mention that C Godwin was benched
again and scored 17.5 more points while K Allen was pedestrian with 2
receptions for 33 yards. Godwin continues to lead all WRs in the
PQBFL and not only by a hair: he’s 2.2 pts per game in front of M
Thomas (Bas) yet he has not started once this year for Old.
The Ballers’ nightmare season continues with a 3rd last place in six
weeks and finishing in the red in every single week. With Foles
and Newton still injured plus Josh Allen on bye, there was little hope
for Ball this week and Taysom Hill scored 1.25 pts on three rushing
plays. Nobody without a starting QB can win in the PQBFL but the
situation is even worse if first round pick Mixon scores 3.25 pts, the
fourth time in six weeks that he scores below 5.5 pts. Breida had
a good week on the bench last week but he was more modest this week as
a starter with only 5.25 pts. At WR T Boyd was expected to have a
big week against the depleted Ravens secondary but he disappointed with
3 short receptions, paving the way to his teammate A Tate to have the
lion’s share of the passing offense with 12 targets. One of the
few good news for Ballers this week was rookie M Sanders who scored for
the first time of his career and finished with 14.5 pts, more than
doubling his previous best game which was 6.5 pts in week #3.
