The
BeaudoinBrothers are the first team this season to win back to back
weeks with a solid 177 pts, holding on to their lead over surging Bas
on MNF. The week started well on Thursday night with R Wilson
scoring 36.25 pts against the Rams, making up for the weak 5 points
from DB John Johnson III in that same game. WR has been a problem
for Beaud all year but despite TY Hilton being bothered by an injury
and benched, Thielen had his best game of the year with 25.5 pts.
The same can be said of A Robinson who seems to click better with
backup QB C Daniels than with Trubisky: A Robinson caught 7 passes and
two of them for a TD, exactly like Thielen. At RB the Bros were
less dominant than previous weeks but Chubb did just enough on MNF to
edge Bas thanks to his 8.25 pts. It’s also worth nothing that
first pick overall K Murray continues to roll along despite not being
the most dominant QB and TDs being hard to come by. This week he
scored another 21 pts despite only 1 TD as his rushing yardage makes up
for it and he’s not turning the ball over. He leads all rookies
by a healthy 4.6 pt per game margin, in front of Josh Jacobs
(Bas).
The GloriousBastards made a late push on MNF to try to beat Beaud with
TE Kittle scoring a TD and 17.25 pts but it fell short. Bas would
have finished first if not for the bad 3.75 pt game by B Cooks on
Thursday. Cooks is only an after thought in that Rams offense,
with C Kupp (FE) being targeted 17 times during the game compared to
only 3 times for Cooks. With the presence of R Woods (Dec) and TE
Everett, Cooks is arguably no better than the 4th receiver on the
Rams. WR M Thomas made all the damage at WR by himself with a
monster 32 pt game as he beat the Bucs all by himself. He has not
been slowed down much by Brees’ absence so far. In addition to B
Cooks, the Bastards can blame Ekeler this week who will clearly not be
the same player with M Gordon in the lineup. Ekeler caught a
whopping 15 receptions but he only carried the rock 3 times because of
Gordon, in addition Ekeler fumbled once so he finished the game with
only 4.75 pts even with his huge number of receptions which is
worrisome for the upcoming few weeks. In that same game it’s
worth mentioning that the Broncos D was finally able to have a decent
game with 13.5 pts which is almost triple of what they had scored in
the first 4 weeks combined (5 pts in 4 games).
OldNo7’s yoyo continued this week with 3rd place so Old has finished in
top 3 in weeks 1-3-5 and in bottom 4 in weeks 2-4. Franchise
player McCaffrey was a monster with 3 TDs and an eye popping 237 yds
from scrimmage for a total of 38.75 pts. He is easily leading all
RBs in the PQBFL by 5.4 pts per game in front of D Cook (Dec). So
far he has been a great investment for both the present and the future
with the pre-draft acquisition to make him franchise player.
Co-RB S Michel was not bad either with 16.25 pts which was his first
double digit game of the season; it was timely because Kerryon Johnson
was on bye. Old would have finished at or near the top if not for
bad games from receivers. Hopkins was so-so with 11.25 pts but
when the Texans score 53 pts we would expect far more from
Hopkins. He was completely overplayed by teammate W Fuller who
caught 14 passes and 3 TDs in that game. K Allen was a dud with 4
receptions for 18 yards this week while Old benched C Godwin who
exploded for 27.25 pts. It’s already the third time in 5 weeks
that Godwin scores over 20 pts, he surprisingly leads all WRs in the
PQBFL yet he has been benched every week so far for Old.
The Admirals scored an excellent 163.5 pts but unfortunately this week
it was no better than 4th place. A Cooper was by far Adm’s top
scorer with 30.25 pts with a good chunk of that coming in garbage time
scoring of a bad loss at home. Other than A Cooper, Adm is
hurting at WR with D Adams, C Kirk, and K Stills all injured so it
forced Robby Anderson into the starting lineup and he continued to
disappoint with only 1.75 pt. So far he’s only the 40th best WR
in the PQBFL and is being outscored by several rookie WRs including
Adm’s own DK Metcalf who contributed 12 pts this week. The
Vikings defense also did well with 16 pts which was their best game of
the year, helping them to rise to 4th best defense this year.
Gurley and Ingram both scored but yardage left to be desired so they
ended up more or less in line with their weekly projection. It
was exactly the same for Garoppolo on MNF who was efficient with 2 TDs
but less than 200 yards passing and he finished the game with 16.75 pts
which was exactly his projection.
FlyingElvis finished in the middle of the pack this week with 140.25
pts but benefited from Dec’s struggles to move to within one rank-point
of Dec in 2nd place in the standings. Prescott was the team’s
highest scorer with 24.5 pts but most of his scoring happened after the
Cowboys were already down 31-3 and he was responsible for this mess by
throwing 3 INTs. WR C Kupp was more impressive than Prescott with
a TD and 9 receptions for 117 yds. Who would have thought that he
would be the second best WR in the PQBFL after 5 weeks coming off from
ACL. The other notable score was 15.5 pts from the Pats D who
besides allowing a long TD run of 65 yards early in the game, after
that they were nearly flawless with no points and less than 150 yards
allowed, 5 sacks and 2 turnovers in the last 55 minutes of the
game. The main two areas where FE struggled this week was at the
rookie and TE positions. Rookie WR Isabella started and only
scored 0.5 pt on a run and he was held catchless. He was forced
into the lineup because of the injury to Singletary and Hockenson was
on bye. At TE, H Henry remains out, Watson was cut by the Pats,
and De Walker did not do the job with only 1 reception for 10 yards.
The SunshineBoys had their best score since week #1 with 6th
place. D Watson carried the team all by himself with a huge game
of 5 TDs, 426 passing yards, 47 rushing yards, and no turnover, for a
total of 48.75 pts. WR Edelman also had a good game with 8-110-1
and D Freeman partially got on track with a TD and 70 total yards, but
everybody else failed to reach double digits. ODB was the main
laggard with only 2 receptions and he fumbled on a punt return.
Him and the rest of the Browns offense have been a disappointment so
far and he ranks 28th best WR in the PQBFL which is unacceptable.
The Jaguars defense was also disappointing with only one point in a
loss to Carolina and their backup QB K Allen while Newton remains
out. The Jags were the first defense drafted and they currently
rank 14th out of 16 defenses in the PQBFL, another unacceptable
result. Last but not least, Sun continues to struggle with
rookies: two guys are injured and the other three are useless. N
Fant scored 1.25 pt this week.
The Decepticons had a fairly low score last week but escaped with 3rd
place, which was not the case this week unfortunately. Dec scored
a season-low 123.5 pts and because week #5 was the highest scoring in
the PQBFL unlike week #4 which was the lowest scoring, Dec could not do
any better than 7th place and they should consider themselves lucky
that they barely beat Wax. Dec’s team is loaded on paper but for
the second straight week Mahomes did not cover his weekly projection
with 18.75 pts this week in a surprising home loss against
Indy. In that same game Kelce did not score for the 4th
time in 5 weeks and as a 1st round pick, more is expected than 5th best
TE in the league so far. It’s only a matter of time before Dec
gets the double-TDs when Mahomes throws to Kelce for a score but that
did not happen in the last two weeks. While there is no reason to
believe that Mahomes and Kelce won’t do better going forward, WR M
Evans is a more puzzling case. In a week where Godwin (Old)
catches 7 balls and 2 TDs, how in the world could Evans not get a
single reception and finish the game with a goose egg? His
counter performance this week hurt Dec badly. The Rams defense
has been another problem especially since Dec acquired them by
trade. The Rams could not stop the Seahawks all day and finished
with a negative score while the Eagles who were traded to Wax feasted
on the Jets with 31 pts which might give Dec second thoughts about that
trade.
WaxOnWaxOff’s awful season continues with 8th place this week.
Wax was well positioned before MNF to finish at least 7th if not 6th,
but kicker Gould missed 3 FGs and rookie Deebo Samuel only caught a
short pass so that sunk Wax. It should be noted that the coach
snoozed by starting CJ Mosley who was injured and TJ Watt scored 9 pts
on the bench. Those 9 pts cost 2 ranks to Wax and was a gift to
Dec and Sun. Alternatively the coach could have started rookie
Hardman rather than Deebo Samuel and that would also have made the
difference for those two ranks. Hardman scored 7.5 pts and Samuel
only 1 pt so this 6.5 pt difference was enough for 6th place, just as
much as starting TJ Watt would have been. As mentioned above the
Eagles D started for Wax and scored 31 pts thanks to 2 TDs and they
held the Jets to only 128 total yards. At RB Kamara continues to
underperform without Brees . This week he got over 100 yards from
scrimmage but no score. Similar to Kamara, Conner is also subpar
without his regular QB Roeth. This week he had a short TD but
only 55 rushing yards and no reception.
The Ballers finished last for the second time this season and in the
red in each of the first 5 weeks. Scoring 119.25 pts was
nonetheless the team’s highest score and they deserved better than
last, finishing only 6.5 pts away from 6th place so scoring 6.75 pts
more would have been the difference for 3 ranks. First off, if
college WR Shenault was not injured then most likely Ball would not
have been last this week because he would have scored some points, if
not 6.75 pts. Regular starter T Lawrence was on bye so Shenault’s
injury could not have come at a worst time. However the easy way
to get those 6.75 pts would have been to start Breida instead of Chris
Thompson particularly since Thompson was playing the Pats so it should
have been clear that he was not in line for a big game. Thompson
scored 3 pts while Breida feasted on the Browns with 2 TDs and 23.75
pts on the bench. At WR Ju Jones is responsible for the Ballers
finishing last because 4 pts from a franchise player is dismal from any
position. Also the Bears caused some problems for Ball this week
by scoring only 2 pts in Oakland and leaving the Titans on the bench
with their 6 pts. Unlike C Thompson however, we could have
expected a far better game by the Bears against the feeble Raiders
offense so this coaching call was less questionable than benching
Breida, but the result was not good anyway.
