The BeaudoinBrothers won for the first time of the season and took sole
possession of first place in the standings. However it was not
smooth sailing for the Bros particularly with Thielen being stuck in
the train wreck Vikings offense with only 2 receptions for 6 yards and
also Myles Garrett had his first bad game of the year with only 1
point. Fortunately the rest of Beaud’s defense was very solid
with 21 pts from Garrett’s teammate Schobert, and double digit scores
as well from John Johnson, Lavonte David, and the Chargers D who easily
neutralized the Dolphins. On offense Chubb was the leader with 3
TDs and 34.25 pts on the road against the Ravens defense which was
impressive. However the Bros needed some luck to beat FE with TE
Ebron who sucked all game and dropped many passes, until he caught a
long garbage time TD in the last minute to rob FE of first place.
FlyingElvis had a solid second place which is a very satisfying result
without franchise player Barkley out due to injury and L Bell being on
bye as well. Backup Drake did not do anything but Fournette took
matters into his own hands with 245 yards from scrimmage although no
TD. At QB FE had a tough choice between Prescott and A Rodgers
and the coach made the right call to start Rodgers who scored 23.75 pts
while Prescott was a non-factor in New Orleans with only 4.75
pts. At WR it seems C Kupp has no ill effects of his ACL last
year and scored over 20 pts for the second straight week and he is now
WR2 in the PQBFL right behind K Allen (Old). While FE might not
have the top WR in the league, the one position where FE rules is
defense. Rarely do we see a team defense being the position with
the largest domination of any position but such is the case so far
after one quarter of the season. The Pats D scored 21 pts in
Buffalo this week and their average of 20.1 pts per game is way ahead
of the Bears (Ballers) at 12.8 pts. None of the other positions
besides rookie have a spread more than 2 pts per game between first and
second. FE failed to win this week because of the TE position and
that was not just the garbage TD of Ebron. For FE, H Henry was
injured, B Watson is still suspended, and De Walker only caught one
pass but the loser found a way to fumble it.
The Decepticons had an off week without a TD from Mahomes which is very
unusual, but in such a low scoring week, the TDs here and there
elsewhere on Dec’s lineup were enough for 3rd place and it was not even
that close relative to 4th place. In a week where scoring was at
a premium, not turning the ball over was important and Dec achieved
that other than rookie D Jones who had 2 INTs but Dec did not have
turnovers at other positions. Similar to Mahomes, C Carson did
not score but he had good yardage with 145 total yards. M Evans
surprisingly did not partake in the huge scoring festival from the Bucs
offense, but at least he caught a long bomb for a TD to avoid being
left in the dust behind Godwin (Old) who had most of the scoring.
The Decepticons made a key trade to improve at many positions but funny
enough the Rams defense who were supposed to help Dec had a shit day
(except for a pick-6) allowing close to 50 pts.
WaxOnWaxOff scored a mediocre 126.5 pts but that was good enough for
4th place this week. Newly acquired L Jackson struggled with 2
INTs and a fumble not lost, but he managed to score enough late in the
game to end with 24.5 pts which was better than backup Rivers who was
playing the Dolphins. Having traded away a kicker, Wax had to
endure a zero at the kicker position but fortunately that did not
impact the standings for Wax this week. In fact Wax might have
benefited from the trade at the defensive team position because Wax
started the Steelers after trading away the Rams, and the Steelers had
a stellar game with 18.5 pts while the Rams were porous, which could
have been the difference between 4th and 5th place with Admirals not
too far behind. In weeks 2-3, Wax had some hope that rookie M
Hardman would be a decent starter with Ty Hill out but Hardman crashed
back to reality with negative points this week. Hardman only
caught two short passes and fumbled one of them.
The Admirals had their lowest score of the year with only 119.5 pts but
it was just enough to finish in the middle, right in front of
OldNo7. Adm might have beat Wax if Davante Adams did not get
injured during the game; he was previously unstoppable with 10
receptions for 180 yards before his exit. Also not having a
college player hurt this week with Ehlinger on bye and Patrick Taylor
Jr is still injured. Among the few bright spots this week were
Gurley scoring 2 TDs (although he only had 16 rushing yards) and Derek
Carr beating his weekly projection with 15.25 pts in a road win in
Indy. RB Ingram and WR A Cooper failed to perform with so-so
stats and no TD. Rookie DK Metcalf was even worse only only 1
reception for 6 yards because the Seahawks spent most of the game
running rather than throwing.
OldNo7 continued their up and down season with a disappointing 6th
place this week following the high output of almost 190 pts last
week. Wentz did well in Green Bay with 23.25 pts and C McCaffrey
was his normal self with 1 TD and 179 total yards, however like so many
other PQBFL teams, several other of Old’s superstars were held in check
this week. D Hopkins only finished with 41 receiving yards and he
threw an INT; K Allen was playing the Dolphins so Old expected big
numbers but he finished with only 5 receptions for 48 yards. E
Engram was also fairly quiet in a win with 4-54 and no TD. On
defense the Bills had their hands full against the Patriots and were
able to limit the Pats to 10 pts despite having bad field position due
to Josh Allen’s numerous INTs but the Bills special team allowed a key
blocked punt returned for a TD which was costly for the Bills and they
finished the game with only 6 pts. In that same game it’s worth
noting that kicker Gostkowski missed an extra point once again and
after four weeks he’s only the 11th top kicker in the PQBFL.
The GloriousBastards finished in the red for the second straight week
and finished 7th, plus they also dropped to 7th place in the
standings. Part of the problem was bad luck because nobody
expected LB Roquan Smith to miss the game but he was a late
scratch. That alone was not enough to make a difference between
7th and 6th place, but if the coach had not started injured Darius
Leonard too then Bas could have beat Old. On offense Ekeler had a
big game with 21 pts, perhaps for the last time of the season with the
imminent return of Melvin Gordon. At least Ekeler took maximum
advantage of his opportunities scoring the second most points at RB so
far, only 0.8 pt per game behind McCaffrey. QB Goff started
because Brady was playing the Bills, which was the right call to
make. Goff threw for over 500 passing yards which was great, but
he lost the game in large part because of his 4 turnovers.
Defense continued to be very week for Bas this week, not only the
couple of zeros at LB but also the Broncos defense which is pathetic
and scored a goose egg as well, at home against the weak Jaguars
offense and now Bradley Chubb is out for the year which will make
things worse. No team has been punished more than Bas for only
drafting one defense after Dec threw the towel with their acquisition
of the Rams via trade.
The Ballers only scored 90 pts this week and finished in 8th place due
to no player scoring double digits on offense other than kicker
Zuerlein with 10.5 pts. With Foles and Newton both injured, the
Ballers had to start Josh Allen who had a very rough game with 3 INTs
before being knocked out by a concussion. He finished the game
with 2 pts which is almost impossible to overcome at the QB
position. However even the healthy players did not get the job
done, at least not this week with only 6.5 pts from Ju Jones and 2.5
pts from Sammy Watkins. Mixon is supposed to lead the way at RB
but he struggled again with only 5.25 pts and has been a poor
investment so far as the 30th best RB in the PQBFL. Defense was
somewhat better this week with T Edwards scoring 12.5 pts and the Bears
making fun of the Vikings and scored 16 pts.
The SunshineBoys started well with 142.25 pts in week #1 but since then
it’s been downhill with 119.25 pts in week 2, 104.5 pts in week 3, and
now for the first time below 100 pts with a league-low and season-low
72.5 pts. The only good performances came from TE Dissly who
continues to impress and scored 14.75 pts this week, moving up to 4th
best TE in the PQBFL. Kicker Lutz won the game by himself thanks
to his 4/4 FGs as the Saints did not score a single TD. The last
notable output was LB Vander Esch who slightly beat his weekly
projection with 11 pts. However the rest of the lineup was
abysmal, starting with QB Watson scoring only 8.25 pts at home against
the Panthers. While RB Ballage only scored 0.5 pt, nobody
expected much from him anyway, but the same cannot be said of the high
powered WR duo ODB + JJSS. Those guys scored 6.75 pts combined –
what the heck was that? At rookie G Pratt is only good for 1 or 2
pts per game and this week was no exception, however the good news is
that Noah Fant scored 10.5 pts on the bench so he might start sooner
rather than later for Sun.
