After a slow start in week #1, the Decepticons have reached the top in
week #3 and in the standings to take back their spot as 2019
favorites. The big difference this week has been one of Dec’s
rookie lottery tickets seems to have paid off: D Jones took over E
Manning and he seems to be much better than all the negative publicity
he got during the offseason. D Jones scored 4 TDs against the
Bucs defense which had been quite decent in the first two weeks of the
season and he finished the game with 33.25 pts. It could very
well be that Jones will be able to approach the scoring of first pick
overall K Murray but he was much cheaper as a 13th round pick.
The other big improvement this week was Dec’s WRs. M Evans was
nowhere to be found in the first two weeks but he exploded for 36.5 pts
this week. Even T Lockett who was quiet early on finally got a
big game with a TD and 11 receptions for 154 yards. Things might
continue to look up for Dec at the WR position with AJ Green getting
closer to health.
OldNo7 bounced back from a disastrous week #2 by scoring almost 200
points for the second time in three weeks. Keenan Allen was a
monster with 13 receptions for 183 yards and 2 TDs to take the lead
over all WRs in the PQBFL so far with an average of 22.3 pts per
game. After a quiet week #2, TE Engram had a big game with his
new QB thanks to a long TD but he also had 5 other receptions for a
total of almost 20 points. Similar to K Allen, Engram took over
the top spot of all TEs in the PQBFL after three weeks. Wentz was
not as impressive in a home loss to the Lions but he scored 2 TDs and
did not turn the ball over so it was good enough with 25.25 pts.
McCaffrey had a poor week #2 and like the rest of Old’s team he
returned with a bang in week #3 with a long TD and almost 200 yards
from scrimmage. If it was not for Dalvin Cook’s (Dec) hot start,
Old would actually have the top player at each skill position besides
QB through three weeks; McCaffrey is currently RB2 in the league.
The BeaudoinBrothers have been the most stable team so far this year
scoring in a narrow range 151.5 to 161.75 pts each week and week #3 was
right in there at 156 pts. Matt Ryan had an ok game with 3 TDs in
Indy but he failed to lead his team to victory and his 24.25 pts were
actually worse than both Winston (28.75 pts) and R Wilson (37.75 pts)
who were benched. Starting RBs Chubb and D Henry were ok but more
is expected than their 19.5 pts combined. The Titans offense was
bottled up by the Jaguars and the Browns were not very impressive on
SNF and threw the ball too much given that Chubb was the only one who
could get anything going that night. WRs Thielen (17.75 pts) and
TY Hilton (16.25 pts) had good games but the WR outlook for Beaud is
dimming. Clown-ass Antonio Brown was released so no help is
forthcoming, TY Hilton aggravated his injury and he did not even play
in the second half of the game, and Thielen will most likely not be
able to sustain this level of scoring if the Vikings continue to avoid
throwing the ball, regardless if they are up big or trailing big.
WaxOnWaxOff got their best week of the year with 4th place despite
injuries. Backup QB Brissett is turning out to be a fine
replacement for Roethlisberger and led the Colts to a home win with
21.5 pts despite missing his main WR Hilton for half the game.
Conner might continue to struggle without Roeth and he only scored 1.75
pt this week including a fumble lost. However Kamara is better
suited to perform without Brees than Conner without Roeth, and Kamara
scored 25.25 pts this week with 2 TDs and 161 total yards. Wax
did not have such luck at WR where it will be rough until Ty Hill comes
back. Dede Westbrook started again and just barely beat his
weekly projection with 7.5 pts. After three weeks he ranks 35th
best WR in the PQBFL but Wax simply does not have many options at
WR. At TE Ertz is one of the very few prime players who are
healthy on Wax’s team but somehow he has not scored a TD yet and at
TE10 so far he’s not even starting level in a 9-team league. If
Ertz is not scoring it is certainly not because of the emergence of
young backup TE Goedert (Beaud) who has simply been terrible.
After a bad week 1 and first place in week 2, FE finished in the middle
of the pack in week 3 with 134.75 pts. Unsurprisingly given those
results FE is currently in 5th place in the standings and also 5th for
total points scored. This team has been very average but it’s
about to go below average due to the injury to franchise player S
Barkley who left the game after scoring only 3 points this week and he
will be sidelined for a considerable stretch of time. First round
pick L Bell was limited to 5.25 pts and as the RB15 in the league so
far it looks unlikely that he will be worth the investment FE had to
make. There were a few good news for FE this week however.
LB Wagner failed to reach double digits in the first two weeks but he
came up strong this week with 18 pts with 4 tackles and 14
assists. The Pats defense is the strength of this FE team, easily
dominating any other team defense in the PQBFL with a whopping 19.8 pts
per game so far. This week the Pats held the Jets to 105 total
yards and allowed 7 points because the special teams muffed a punt
return, fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Jets for a
TD. The defensive itself pitched a shutout otherwise.
The Admirals had their worst score of the year with 123 pts and
finished 6th this week. With QB Mayfield not getting the job done
this year, the Adm coach started Garoppolo who had done ok in the first
two weeks, but he was awful this week despite leading his team to
victory. Garoppolo scored a TD and threw for 277 yards but he
turned the ball over 3 times plus one fumble that was recovered by the
49ers. Gurley is another problem for Adm’s team. He only
scored 4.5 pts this week despite the Rams leading almost the entire
game in Cleveland. Gurley has not done better than 10.5 pts which
was week #2. At TE, the Adm coach was encouraged by the hot start
from M Andrews and he started this week but given his bum ankle that
was the wrong choice. Andrews only scored 3.75 pts while backup
Olsen scored 19.75 pts on the bench. At WR D Adams did not do
much and was limited to 6.75 pts but co-WR A Cooper picked up the slack
against the door mat Dolphins with a stat line of 6-88-2.
The Ballers have been slowly trending up from last place in week 1 to
8th place in week 2 and now 7th place in week 3. Things were not
looking good after Sunday and Ball was in danger of finishing last
again. However the Bears defense saved the day with 5 turnovers,
4 sacks, and a TD for a total of 18.5 pts. RB C Thompson also
beat his weekly projection in that game with over 100 total
yards. Franchise player Ju Jones has been another bright spot for
this team and he scored over 20 pts for the second straight week and he
ranks WR2 in the league so far. DL C Campbell also had a 20+
point week with 3 sacks and 5 QB hits in the defensive trashing of the
Titans. However the main problem for Ball this week was that the
coach started injured QB Newton while backup J Allen scored 14.75 pts
on the bench. No team in the PQBFL can be successful without a QB
so the coach snoozing will not help matters if it happens going forward.
The GloriousBastards had an off-week with only 110.75 pts and 8th place
which dropped the team to 6th in the standings. Every player on
Bas’s team underperformed relative to their weekly projection except
for kicker Lambo (9 pts) and LB D Davis (10 pts) who were not
particularly impressive either. Brady was not far off from his
projection with 22 pts but he could have done more than only 2 TDs
against the lowly Jets. Team defense continues to be a problem
for Bas with the Broncos scoring a goose egg in Green Bay and Bas
having no other defense to start. The Broncos are currently last
defense in the PQBFL with only 5 pts in three weeks, tied with the
Eagles (Dec). LB Roquan Smith was a fairly high draft pick in the
8th round but so far he is disappointing ranking only LB21 in the
league and this week his 6 pts fell short to beat the Ballers.
Rookie RB Josh Jacobs was also an expensive pick in the 3rd round but
the Raiders offense sucks so he cannot get anything going, unlike S
Barkley last year who could overcome a bad Giants offense. Jacobs
averaged 4.4 yards per carry this week against a tough Vikings offense
on the road, but given that the Raiders were behind all game he simply
was not used much and D Carr was throwing all day.
The SunshineBoys have been trending in the wrong direction from 4th in
week 1 to 7th in week 2 to last this week with only 104.25 pts.
Unlike the GloriousBastards, Sun did have several standouts this week
however. D Watson lit up the Chargers defense with 31 pts on the
road in an impressive win and JJSS scored a long TD with Mason Rudolph
which was a promising sign for the rest of the season without
Roethlisberger. On defense the Jaguars were dominant with 9 sacks
and only 7 pts allowed. However Sun had several starters with
abhorrent games for example Latavius Murray should not even be part of
the PQBFL with his 2 rushes for 2 yards despite being ahead all game
long in Seattle. TE McDonald only caught one short pass and
kicker Lutz missed an extra point. On defense, both DLs Dunlap
and Clark plus DB E Jackson all scored 4 points which is not going to
cut it. Rookie LB Pratt is barely being used by the Bengals and
he scored a single point against the Bills.
